Cellular Confinement Geocell Driveway

Cellular Confinement Geocell Driveway utilizes HDPE cellular confinement geocell (3D honeycomb geocell) as the core subgrade reinforcement material.

After unfolding and anchoring the geocell on the prepared foundation, the honeycomb cells are filled with crushed stone, gravel, sand or on-site soil. The cellular confinement structure provides powerful lateral confinement to lock the infill materials in place.

Under vehicle load, the confined fill forms a stiff integrated slab. It distributes traffic loads over a larger subgrade area, limits lateral displacement of aggregates, greatly reduces differential settlement, rutting and mud pumping on weak foundations such as clay and silt.

Two geocell types are available:

Textured non-perforated geocell: Preferred for heavy-duty industrial driveways, mine haul roads, provincial highway widening projects, focusing on maximum structural stiffness.

Perforated permeable geocell: Used for ecological driveways, wet low-lying zones, sponge city roads, adding drainage & rainwater infiltration capability.

This cellular confinement solution serves as an economical alternative to thick concrete, asphalt or deep soil replacement. It cuts aggregate consumption, shortens construction time and lowers overall engineering investment.
