1. Project Overview:

Slope protection for navigation lock channel. The bend section suffers severe current scouring and lies within the periodically fluctuating water‑level zone. The project requires both flood‑control anti‑erosion performance and aquatic ecological restoration.


2. Engineering Pain Points: 

Severe current scouring at river bends causes continuous collapse of original soil slopes. Traditional hard revetment with precast concrete blocks delivers poor ecological performance at high cost, and provides little space for vegetation growth.


3. Selected CCS Specification: 

Perforated HDPE cellular confinement system; height 100 mm; sheet thickness 1.4 mm; welding spacing 380 mm.


4. Key Construction Points

1. Trim the slope and lay filter geotextile.

2. Unfold perforated CCS from slope top downwards, stretch tightly. Apply densified anchorage at slope top and slope toe.

3. Fill most cells with planting soil mixed with grass seeds. Cast thin‑layer cast‑in‑situ concrete inside cells for local bend zones with rapid flow to boost anti‑scour capacity. Compact with small‑size vibratory rammer. Fix and seal the slope toe for toe‑weighting stabilization.


5. Implementation Results

✅ 3D honeycomb confinement locks fill soil in place to resist current scouring, with no slope collapse observed.

✅ Perforations enable water‑soil exchange; vegetation forms within 3 months to build composite ecological revetment.
