Internal Access Driveway of Rural Park (HDPE geocell driveway)

Project Location: Internal driveway / light‑duty access road within a rural industrial park

Project Overview: The driveway serves non‑motorized vehicles and light passenger cars, with a total construction area of 2300 ㎡. The original subgrade is silty clay, which turns muddy in rainy seasons. The former crushed‑stone pavement suffered from sand loss and potholes requiring frequent repairs.

Engineering Pain Points: Limited budget, low subgrade bearing capacity, muddy conditions in rainy seasons; demand for low‑cost hardened permeable access.

Selected HDPE Geocell Specification: 75 mm cell height, 1.3 mm sheet thickness HDPE geocell; non‑woven geotextile; infill with limestone crushed stone.

Key Construction Points: Clear surface weeds and compact subgrade; lay geotextile for separation; unfold HDPE geocell and fix with U‑shaped anchor pins; fill and compact crushed stone.

Performance Outcome

‑ No muddy conditions, obvious potholes or sand loss during rainy seasons;

‑ Permeable function achieved with rainwater in‑situ infiltration;

‑ Sound structural condition after 2‑year service, maintenance workload greatly reduced; total cost more than 40 % lower than concrete pavement.
