Private Large‑Estate Driveway (HDPE geocell driveway)
Private Large‑Estate Driveway (HDPE geocell driveway)
Project Location: Private manor / large‑area civil driveway
Project Overview: The driveway is 107 m long and 3.6 m wide, covering a total area of approximately 400 ㎡. It carries passenger cars and light‑duty trucks. An expensive concrete pavement was rejected in favor of an economical permeable solution.
Engineering Pain Points: Requirements for reduced excavation depth, lower project cost, permeable performance, and prevention of concrete cracking.
Selected HDPE Geocell Specification: 75 mm height HDPE geocell; non‑woven geotextile; infill with graded granite crushed stone.
Key Construction Points: Excavation depth only 8‑10 cm (1/3 of excavation depth for conventional subgrade); constructible by ordinary workers without large‑scale specialized equipment; connect geocell panels with clips and fix with anchoring pins; fill and compact crushed stone.
Performance Outcome
‑ Total project cost reduced by 55 % compared with concrete pavement;
‑ All rainwater infiltrates on‑site with zero surface runoff;
‑ No obvious rutting after 5‑year service; only a small amount of surface crushed‑stone topping is required every 6‑8 years.
