Warp Knitted PET Geogrid
1. Product Overview
What it is
Warp knitted PET geogrid is a high-performance geosynthetic reinforcement material, made of high-tenacity polyester filament yarn, warp-knitted into a stable grid structure, then coated with PVC or bitumen for anti-aging and anti-corrosion protection. It features fixed junction strength, no creep under long-term soil load.
How it is manufactured
High strength PET filament is arranged in warp and weft directions. The warp knitting machine binds warp and weft yarns together by continuous looping, forming integrated grid nodes. Afterwards, the grid substrate is coated with PVC or modified bitumen to improve resistance against alkali, acid, moisture and ultraviolet.
What it is used for
Mainly used for soil reinforcement, foundation stabilization, slope protection, road & pavement reinforcement, embankment construction to distribute load, reduce settlement and prevent cracking.
2. Difference between warp knitted PET geogrid and ordinary geogrids
1. Junction strength: Warp knitted grid has integral knitted nodes; yarns cannot slide at intersections. Ordinary woven geogrid has yarns simply interlaced, easy to slip under tension.
2. Creep performance: PET filament has low long-term creep, suitable for permanent engineering. PP geogrid suffers obvious creep under sustained load.
3. Elongation: Warp knitted PET geogrid breaks at low elongation (~10–25%). Ordinary woven PP geogrid has high elongation, large deformation under load.
4. Coating: PET grid adopts PVC/bitumen coating for chemical resistance. Many cheap geogrids have no protective coating.
5. Load transfer: Stable grid aperture locks soil/aggregate better, higher interlocking effect than extruded plastic geogrid.
