Ⅰ.  Project Overview

After years of operation, an expressway has developed a large number of fatigue cracks, network cracks and local potholes on the pavement. Conventional repairs show poor effectiveness and repeated distresses.

Ⅱ. Design Scheme

1. Mill the distressed surface course and seal the cracks in the base course;

2. Lay high-strength anti-crack geotextile of 250g/m², with a lap width of ≥15cm in the longitudinal direction and ≥20cm in the transverse direction;

3. Pave the asphalt concrete surface course and intermediate course.

Ⅲ. Application Effects

- The propagation speed of cracks is significantly slowed down, and the number of reflective cracks is reduced by more than 70%;

- The interlayer shear resistance is enhanced, and rutting and shifting distresses are effectively controlled;

- The service life of the pavement is prolonged, the overhaul cycle is significantly delayed, and remarkable economic benefits are achieved.
