1. Project Overview of Geotextile Works

This is a local small water storage reservoir with a homogeneous earth dam that has been in operation for many years. Seepage occurs in multiple parts of the dam, and reservoir water leakage is severe. It not only wastes water resources but also softens the dam soil, bringing hidden dangers such as dam settlement and landslides. Anti-seepage and reinforcement treatment are urgently required.

2. Application Details of Geotextile

Composite geotextile (two-layer fabric with one membrane) is adopted, with 300g/㎡ geotextile for both upper and lower layers and a compound HDPE anti-seepage membrane in the middle.

The composite material is fully laid on the upstream slope of the dam and the connecting section of the reservoir bottom. The geotextile faces the soil body, and the membrane serves as the core anti-seepage layer. After laying, soil covering and cushion protection construction are carried out.

3. Main Functions of Geotextile

The lower geotextile isolates soil and levels the base surface, preventing sharp particles from piercing the anti-seepage membrane; the upper geotextile provides buffer protection to resist damage from backfill soil and external extrusion. The integrated structure realizes the integration of anti-seepage, protection and filtration.

4. Implementation Effect of Geotextile

The dam seepage problem is completely solved, and the water storage capacity of the reservoir is restored. The geotextile effectively protects the anti-seepage structure. The construction is convenient, the project cost is much lower than that of concrete anti-seepage walls, the construction period is shortened, and the operational stability of the dam is significantly improved.
