Filtration and Drainage Project for Water Diversion Tunnel (High‑Strength Filament Geotextile)

Ⅰ. Project Overview

This mountainous water diversion and conveyance tunnel features fractured surrounding rock, large water inflow and high sediment content, making blind drainage ditches highly susceptible to blockage.

400 g/㎡ high‑strength filament geotextile is used to wrap blind drainage pipes as a filtration layer.

Ⅱ. Application Details

Longitudinal and transverse blind drainage pipes are installed on the side walls and arch of the tunnel.

The entire length of each blind pipe is wrapped with geotextile with tight overlaps.

The geotextile blocks sediment from entering the pipes while allowing water to pass through, achieving water permeability and soil retention.

Ⅲ. Main Functions

- Precise filtration to prevent sediment clogging of the drainage system

- Discharge seepage water from surrounding rock and reduce water pressure on the lining

- Protect drainage pipes and extend the service life of the drainage system

Ⅳ. Implementation Results

The drainage system remains unobstructed for long‑term operation without clogging. The tunnel lining is free from seepage and cracks, ensuring safe and stable structure.
