General Engineering Overview of Geotextile for Domestic Waste Sanitary Landfill
Ⅰ. Project Overview

·Project Type‌: Domestic Waste Sanitary Landfill
·Reservoir Area‌: Approximately 12,000 ㎡ (150m × 80m)
·Designed Storage Capacity‌: Approximately 800,000 m³, with a service life of 15 years
·Geological Conditions‌: Dominated by silty clay, with a small amount of gravel in local areas; the groundwater level is relatively low, and the basement bearing capacity is ≥120kPa
·Applicable Standards‌: GB 50869-2013, CJJ 176-2012, GB/T 17643, GB/T 17642

Ⅱ. Anti-seepage System Structure (from bottom to top, including key geotextile layers)
This project adopts a composite anti-seepage structure, and geotextile undertakes five major functions: isolation, protection, filtration, drainage and crack resistance:
·Leveling and compaction of the basement → 200mm graded gravel leveling layer
·300g/㎡ short-fiber needle-punched geotextile (bottom protection / filtration)
·3mm GCL bentonite waterproof blanket
·1.5mm thick HDPE geomembrane (main anti-seepage layer)
·600g/㎡ long-fiber geotextile (upper protection / isolation)
·300mm clay protective layer → waste landfill layer
Key point‌: The HDPE membrane is "sandwiched" between the upper and lower layers of geotextile, preventing the membrane from being punctured by gravel and directly damaged by friction from clay/waste, while ensuring the smooth drainage of landfill leachate.

Ⅲ Specifications and Functions of Geotextile (clear model + function)
1. Lower layer geotextile (under the membrane)
Specification‌: 300g/㎡ short-fiber needle-punched non-woven geotextile
Main functions‌:
Isolation: Separate the gravel layer from GCL to prevent gravel from puncturing the bentonite blanket
Filtration: Allow water to pass through and prevent the loss of fine soil particles
Protection: Reduce the stress of uneven basement settlement on the anti-seepage layer
2. Upper layer geotextile (above the membrane)
Specification‌: 600g/㎡ long-fiber needle-punched non-woven geotextile

Ⅳ. Main functions‌:
·High-strength protection: Resist the pressure and friction from the clay protective layer and waste body, and ·protect the HDPE membrane from puncture
·Stress dispersion: Reduce local stress concentration caused by waste settlement and vehicle rolling
·Drainage: Assist leachate to drain towards the collection pipe and reduce water accumulation on the membrane
·Crack resistance: Slow down the cracking of the anti-seepage layer caused by temperature changes and settlement
