Application of Perforated Honeycomb Geocells in Ecological Restoration of Open-Pit Mine Waste Dump
Application of Perforated Honeycomb Geocells in Ecological Restoration of Open-Pit Mine Waste Dump
Open-Pit Mine Waste Dump Ecological Restoration
1. Project Background
Quarry waste rock slope, loose gravelly spoil, poor water retention, low soil fertility, steep slope up to 42°. Local government requires green mine restoration and soil erosion control.
2. Main Challenges
· Loose waste material has extremely low anti-erosion capacity;
· Difficult for vegetation to take root on barren slopes;
· Need to adopt local spoil as infill to cut transport expenditure.
Solution & Material
100mm height perforated honeycomb geocell. After unfolding and anchoring, filled with screened local topsoil mixed with organic matter.
Achievement
Perforations improve vertical water infiltration and allow root cross growth between adjacent cells. Vegetation coverage stabilized above 85%. Surface runoff erosion drastically reduced, meeting environmental acceptance standards.
