Perforated Honeycomb Geocell Applied to Highway Embankment Ecological Slope Protection Engineering
Perforated Honeycomb Geocell Applied to Highway Embankment Ecological Slope Protection Engineering
1. Project Background
A mountain provincial highway reconstruction project. The cutting slope gradient reaches 40~45°, silty sand soil. Heavy seasonal rainfall easily triggered surface gully erosion and shallow sliding. Traditional concrete hard revetment damaged landscape and failed to realize greening.
2. Main Challenges
· Rainwater infiltration generates hydrostatic pressure inside slope;
· Need permanent vegetation restoration;
· Require flexible structure to adapt minor slope deformation.
Selected Product
HDPE perforated honeycomb geocell, height 150mm, sheet thickness 1.2mm, perforated textured surface, weld peel strength ≥8kN/m.
Construction Scheme
Slope trimming → Lay non-woven geotextile → Unfold & anchor perforated geocell with U-nails → Fill planting soil → Hydro-seeding mixed with grass & shrub seeds.
Project Effect
✅ Drainage holes discharge pore water continuously and eliminate water pressure risk;
✅ Plant roots penetrate perforations to form soil-root-geocell composite reinforcement;
✅ Vegetation coverage exceeds 92% within 6 months; no erosion or sliding observed after 3 rainy seasons.
