Project Background: High‑fill subgrade slope with gully erosion developing on the slope surface during rainy seasons. Rigid protections such as mortar‑stone masonry deliver poor landscape performance, hence an ecological protection solution is required.

Selected Solution: 100 mm high‑strength cellular confinement systems filled with planting soil, followed by hydro‑seeding of native grasses and shrubs.

Mechanism: Lateral confinement restrains fill material sliding; geocell sheets provide tensile reinforcement, combined with soil‑fixing effect of plant roots.

Performance Outcome: Monitored over two rainy seasons, no slope erosion or slumping occurred. Vegetation coverage rate>92%. The overall cost is approximately 40% lower than that of gabion retaining walls.
