Dubai Rail Transit Subgrade Reinforcement Project (Warp-Knitted Polyester Geogrid)
Dubai Rail Transit Subgrade Reinforcement Project (Warp-Knitted Polyester Geogrid)
Project Overview
This project applies to Dubai light rail transit. Located in a desert region, the site features extreme temperature differences between day and night. The subgrade bears long-term cyclic dynamic loads from running trains, while traditional steel reinforcement materials are highly susceptible to corrosion in such harsh environments.
Project Pain Points
The desert high-temperature climate accelerates material aging. Repeated train dynamic loads easily cause track settlement and deformation. Metal reinforcement suffers severe corrosion, resulting in extremely high long-term maintenance costs.
Selected Product
Biaxial warp-knitted polyester geogrid with a tensile strength of 120kN/m and acid & alkali resistant PVC coating.
Construction Scheme
The polyester geogrid is installed beneath the ballast cushion as a subgrade reinforcement layer. It restricts the lateral displacement of ballast aggregates and evenly disperses dynamic train loads.
Implementation Effect
The construction efficiency is improved by 25%. The application completely avoids steel corrosion risks. After 5 years of field monitoring, the vertical track deviation is controlled within 1.2 mm, fully meeting the high-precision operation standards of rail transit. The long-term track maintenance cost is significantly reduced.
