Domestic Changheba Rockfill Dam Seismic Reinforcement Project (Polyester Warp-knitted PET Geogrid)

Project Overview: The Changheba Hydropower Station rockfill dam is a high embankment dam with stringent seismic requirements. Strict control over settlement and deformation of dam fill is required, and the soil mass is exposed to the risk of differential settlement. Reinforcement materials with low long-term creep are demanded.

Project Challenges: The rockfill mass bears heavy loads, and the dam is prone to lateral displacement under seismic conditions. Conventional geosynthetics feature high creep and obvious attenuation of long-term strength.

Selected Product: Uniaxial warp-knitted polyester geogrid, 200kN/m, with acid and alkali resistant PVC coating.

Construction Solution: The dam is filled in layers. Geogrid is laid on each filling layer to interlock with the fill and compacted layer by layer, serving as internal reinforcement for the dam body.

Project Results: The overall integrity and seismic performance of the rockfill dam are greatly improved, and lateral deformation of the dam is effectively restrained. The long-term creep performance meets the design requirements of the high dam. Settlement remains stable during service monitoring, and the cost of seismic reinforcement is reduced.
